About Ali Williams

Her background

Ali Williams first started Pilates in her early twenties, after she suffered sciatica due to scoliosis. She became a client of Jane Paris, who ran the only Pilates studio in Scotland in the early 1990s.  Back then it was the best kept secret!  Ali was hooked from her first class.  She fell in love with the equipment and Pilates itself, and never looked back, after Jane agreed to take her on as an apprentice.

A few years later, Jane moved back to London, and subsequently went on to teach Pilates to the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House. Because of Jane's teaching, Ali has a very insightful and graceful approach to movement and Pilates in general.

Ali also had a movement and fitness background before starting Pilates; having been an aerobics teacher and personal trainer in her early 20s, and  studying ballet when she was very young. She has a degree in BioChemsitry, and is very interested in the aging process and its effects on the body.

Ali has always believed that a good teacher should be able to develop personal exercises for each individual, and not just follow a strict Pilates routine.  Everyone's body and needs are different, and so Ali bases a client's class on what they may need not just in general, but also on that particular day that they come into the studio.
